Flowering Baguio

It's the season of blooming in Baguio with the opening of Panagbenga on its début this 2013. Once again, Baguio's main thoroughfares are adorned with flowering faces and decorations as elementary school dancers participated in the opening street dancing competition. One of the unique innovations during the Strawberry festival is the Strawberry Lane which offers variety of strawberry inspired products from donuts to facial scrub. What was removed from the Baguio Panagbenga Festival which was the flower inspired foods fair, La Trinidad picked up. Chairperson Municipal Agriculturist Fely Ticbaen said that “the trade fair is to showcase different entrepreneurs producing strawberry based products.” Many who participated continued the product that won a Guinness World Record in 2004 when La Trinidad showcased the biggest strawberry shortcake. Different versions had been competed against each other for the best strawberry shortcake since then and some are currently offered at the Strawberry Lane. 8 degrees Pastries something not to be trifled with

Eight degrees may not be the coldest temperature in Baguio (it was 6.1 recorded in 1961), but it is a place to visit when it comes to pastries and coffee in the City of Pines. A great cafe at the Azalea Residences that uses the local produce like strawberries and carrots for pastry ingredients. In here (like any other cafes) you will encounter strange words like fritzer and trifle.    What in the name of %$#@ is a trifle? As far as I know, the dictionary's description is some sort of a thing of little value or importance. Never thought it has a taste. Well, yes it does and there are even different tastes depending on the ingredients. The Sta. Fe Ridge - A walk in the clouds

Benguet is fast becoming the hiking capital of the Philippines and another trekking destination is officially added to its attractions. Just a 35-minute drive and a 2-hour hike from the City of Baguio await this awe-inspiring grassland ready for great adventures. Now being promoted as Mt. Ulap, the Sta. Fe Ridge in Ampucao, Itogon has been a favorite hiking destination to those who know the place. The municipality of Itogon and Barangay Ampucao officially launched Mt. Ulap a dven ture last Saturday, October 31. Reaching Mt. Ulap will take you about 2 to 3 hours trek entering at the Tutumbek woodlands and pass through the vast grasslands of the entire Ridge.
