Surfing San Juan, La Union

San Juan, La Union was recently discovered and it's considered to be the Surfing Capital of the Northern Philippines. It is known for its consistent intermediate quality waves and two surfing seasons from July to October and November to March. From then on, people from nearby provinces frequent to the place to play the sport giving livelihood to the surrounding communities. But as usual, I am always interested to find other interesting places for recreation and unique areas that will show the other side of the place. So I make my short detours around the place and find what else it has to offer. If you are vigilant, you will be awarded with unique photos that tells a different story. The rocky beach on the left side of the surfing cove can be used for creative photography. Here, a lady posing to a friend for picture was distracted by a passing boat and that's when my shutter went of. And these boat riders seem to be trying to escape away from the sunset ...

A "Tradisyon" with a class of its own

When I entered, I was wondering why the Restaurant was called Tradisyon. I believe some of the reasons were the traditional foods they served as the slogan says, Pinoy comfort food. The ambiance, although smaller in dimension, is not in a way inferior to the high class hotels or clubs in Baguio but with a price that’s more affordable.  The buffet brunch is worth the price for only 350.00, cheaper for a few hundreds than the one I tried before in another club restaurant. But with great chefs like Chris who I chanced upon preparing the omelet, the foods are in no way inferior. In my own humble opinion, enjoying a great food need not be so expensive. The Imbayah charm

It happens every three years, an event that is so elusive to me, I wasn't able to attend the last two celebrations that took place since I joined the throng of journalists in Baguio. Finally got my chance this year. The event is not extraordinary. There are other festivals that are better compared to it. But there are activities that are unique only in Banaue. And of course, the event is happening in the famous Rice Terraces, one of the considered 8th wonder of the World. While the greatest attraction of the place is still the landscapes and the terraces - photos of these had been circulating for centuries, the cultural activities are a great addition that visitors can enjoy especially to foreign tourists. The unique scooter race has recently become one of the most viral images of Banaue. Prices are cheaper than the Capital Cities. Accommodations  are affordable, although most of the Inns have common bathrooms and toilets usually designed for 'homestay'. ...
